Sophomore Year
This school year has flown by. Looking back, I have done a lot this year as apart of the TV program. To begin, this year I have participated a great deal in live productions. Some examples are that I helped out as a camera at a pep rally and I am a camera operator for NHS update. Also, I was floor director at the boys volleyball game, memorial day service, and Nemmy's. I really like floor directing and organizing people to make sure everything happens at the right time and that everything/everyone is where it should be.
In addition to live broadcasting, I created two journalism stories. One of them was about Nicole Catalano and her passion for skating. While filming and editing that story my partner and I were faced with many challenges involving people but were able to overcome them and produce a nat package. The other story I helped produce was about the 4H program and its positive impact on the lives of so many children. It was a great experience because I was able to film with animals and talk with a lot of amazing people.
Also, I made a PSA about the yogurt in the cafeteria. This was an interesting project because I was able to work with people that I had not really talked with before. It was interesting to hear their ideas and their backgrounds with film. Another video that I helped produce this year was Banana Boy. It was an interesting experience that tested my creativity. I came up with the idea which I liked I just wish I was able to execute it better. I hope to improve on my story telling in the next few years.
On top of all of this I was apart of the 48 hour film festival. There was a group of about 10 people and it was a unique experience. It was my first time ever acting so it was a little intimidating but the people were a ton of fun. We managed to produce a decent story for the amount of time given. I would definitely be interested in doing similar contests. All in all, this school year has been crazy but it ended up being rather successful.
